Im sure lots of the experiences players have come upon a time when their fire-aspect has killed someone and didn't credit them with the kill, and my suggestion for this is simple
Upon abilities or giving fire-aspect it also gives fire resistance (so the player just appears to be on fire but isnt taking ticks) and instead of vanilla damage the server places a tick on them (like a necromancer decay) that acts at the exact same way a normal fire tick does but is registered to the player that put the fire on their enemy.
This would also allow for an easy control of fire damage and being able to adjust its damage for different abilities.
